About Lee's new book:
Lee Bridges, known to all as the Cannabis Poet, has led a very interesting life in his 76 years. Living in Europe for the last 35 of those years, Lee has witnessed many changes to the social and political landscapes and rubbed shoulders with much of the alternative European literati community. Lee's expressive poetry encapsulates both the joy and sorrow of those years in soul-searching vignettes.

Now Lee is publishing a book of prose that includes a selection of poems from the period in review. "Me, Two" is Lee looking back at the turbulent 60s, and at his own life as a poet living life on the streets and cafes of Paris, Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt and Ibiza. Participating and organizing poetry readings and multimedia events, Lee was part of a new, socially aware wave of art and literature infiltrating the staid European establishment during that period.

Lee helped "bridge" the gap between the writers and poets on the Paris scene in the 30s and 40s with those in the sixties and now the activists of today have discovered this voice from the past who is still writing about social conditions and the downtrodden. Yet Lee is never morbid or depressing, quite the opposite. Lee's work is full of life and joy which he finds in the most unlikely of places. Lee celebrates life with an uplifting infectious zest that permeates his writing. Like some old blues singer, Lee manages to takes us to the dark depths of one's inner turmoil and then reminds us that there is so much more to live for, rinsing our soul with love's gentle rain.

But just as a soul can reflect upon both sides of life, so Lee has another side that until now he has kept quiet about. In his new book, "Me, Two", Lee reveals how he survived for decades as a poet who had no fixed income or social security to help make ends meet. Poetry doesn't pay well, so Lee had to find another way to support himself as a struggling writer in Paris. Opportunity knocked, and the next thing you know, our friendly poet is selling small amounts of cannabis to friends. It knocks again, and now Lee is traveling to places like Lebanon's Bekaa Valley and Kabul, Afghanistan to score kilos of hashish, which he smuggles back into Western Europe's eager market.

Lee's tales of derring-do on the smuggler's trail are reminicent of the experiences many shared on the infamous route to the Mideast in those heady days before terrorism and paranoia ruled the borders. Lee managed to survive and prosper as a small-time smuggler for awhile, but eventually his luck ran out. Lee's stint in a Parisian prison and indefinite loss of freedom, was only mitigated by his job in the prison library, where he could read and write to his heart's content.

After his release, Lee returned to his beloved Amsterdam, where saner, more tolerant minds prevail. Lee continued his life as a poet and eventually married and had a child who changed his life around. Now Lee reflects upon those years and how his two personas defined his life.
